Check the slack time (display it as an attribute in the Schedule Chart or look at its column in the Project Table). If the critical path threshold is set to Most Critical Tasks in the Preferences dialog box, MacProject II identifies the path with zero or negative slack as critical (or the one with the least amount of slack time). If you have set a custom threshold, MacProject II identifies the path with slack equal to or less than that threshold.

In most cases, part or all of the critical path disappears as a result of a date you set. (For example, you’ve set an Early Start date that’s later than the calculated Early Start.) Check the Project Table to determine whether there are any set dates
(they are underlined in the table), and remove set dates that are not essential to the project.
If you have entered any actual dates and want those dates to determine critical path, be sure that you have Calculate Using Actual on in the Dates menu. This command is dimmed and has a check mark by it when it is on.
